Workshops for children and families, individual workshops in the “Mosaic Lounge”, a space entirely dedicated to this ancient art, where everyone can experience the joy of creating a small mosaic.
“How it’s made” practical demonstrations showing how a mosaic is created.
I have cultivated a passion for mosaics since 2000. Between 2018 and 2019, I collaborated on the consolidation of the majestic 12th-century mosaic of the Last Judgement in the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Torcello, and in 2025, I participated in the restoration of the presbytery floor in the same basilica. In 2025, in a Venice increasingly emptied by population decline, my wife Susanna, an ethnographer and crafts scholar, and I are launching a project to safeguard, enhance, and transmit the ancient art of mosaics, particularly Byzantine mosaics. We are transforming a living room into an artisanal workshop where anyone can discover how it’s made and experience the thrill of creating a small mosaic with their own hands.
